The title came with the data reports that were recently published by advisory and industry analysis expert group NPD.

The biggest feat of Madden lies in the fact that the game which was inspired and conceived from the National Football League has been bagging the title of the best selling game in August for the past seven consecutive years. The game was released only last month and now stands at number three as the best selling game of the year, just a little behind Kingdom Hearts III and Mortal Kombat 11 taking the first and second place respectively.

In other news, the reports from NPD revealed that Minecraft only came in second to the victorious win of Madden NFL 20. In the chart for the best-selling games, the sandbox video game earned its highest rank in all of its years of virtual existence and is an enormous feat in itself. As of the current placements and rakings, Minecraft has earned the thirteenth position in this celebrated list of the top-selling games of the year.

The blockbuster video game hitmaker GTA V by Rockstar Games which is yet another cult favorite took the third place with pride and glory. Six years with our gaming favorite has already passed in a jiffy and the action-adventure game is still one of the biggest audience picks of all time with a sentiment attached to it and rumors that sequel is in works has already had the gaming scene waiting with anticipation.

Consecutively, Nintendo is emerging as one of the biggest gaming company in recent times. About half the games among the countdown of top ten biggest-selling games of August 2019 are from the house of Nintendo exclusives. This is yet another global feat and accomplishment for the Japanese video game company.

In terms of hardware sales, the best selling console that won over every other release in the closing week of August selling an astounding 87,737 units was Nintendo Switch. This win was followed by PlayStation 4 with 54,547 sold units and Xbox One with 28,911 sold units. The list of the best selling consoles was closed by Nintendo 3DS with 6,513 sold units.

If console expenditure is considered, a whopping 22 percent drop was experienced in August this year as opposed to the same period the previous year. Around the same time in August, Xbox and PS4 also went through a substantial sales drop which resulted in Nintendo Switch to take the first place in the countdown of best selling consoles for the entire year.

The dominance of Nintendo Switch can be practically explained because of its relatively new entry into the spectrum of gaming. With its convenience as a handheld console that has been in the market already for two years, its popularity is quite aggravated while PlayStation4 and Xbox One, on the other hand, have been in the market for solid six years straight.
