A Woman was Born Even with an IUD and Currently, She Suffers from Rare Diseases

It is an exception case of a woman in Alberta, namely Sherri Jones who was born in a rare case situation. Jones is currently 54 years old and she is suffering from various diseases. Though her mom used the IUD or intrauterine device; she got pregnant and Jones was born. This usual phenomenon takes place only 1 in a 100 occurence.
Sherri Jones shared in an interview, “The IUD apparently had gotten stuck on her bladder, and it penetrated her bladder, which is why she was able to conceive.” While the IUD did not cause any problem to the mother, the device was surgically removed after a few months Jones was born.
However, this rare phenomenon has caused some severe problems for the child, Sherri Jones who has struggled from the age of 3 to 4 years. The series of health issues included speech impediment, slow bladder development, leg pain, vision issues, and many others. She gradually grew up and started experiencing pain all over her body, especially the joints. Jones said, “I was constantly back and forth to the hospital, I was in an ambulance, you name it, doctors’ appointments. It was all the time.”
At the age of 39 years, Jones also went through a bad car accident which made the pain in her body even worse. After an MRI scan, it was revealed that Jones had a large Tarlov Cyst. This is also a rare condition for neurological diseases which was growing in her cervical spine. While doctors successfully handled it with an intriguing surgery, Jones again felt it in the same area.
She developed three more Tarlov Cysts surrounding the surgery site for the first one. Jones said, “The pain has just been excruciating,” and further explained, “I haven’t been able to walk or sit or stand for long periods of time ever since this all started.” When it comes to the symptoms of her condition; she also suffered from dizziness, headache, and blurred vision. She also has short-term memory loss along with a few small congenital deformities in the brain as well as a tissue disorder.
Jones further added that even doctors were unable to pinpoint the cause of these rare diseases. She said, “I’ve just had so many unique things going on with me, and they’re all rare.” These chronic diseases have been chasing her since her childhood and Jones wanted to get rid of it. She also said, “The majority of them are all rare diseases, so how does that get to happen? Something had to have played a role for that to happen.” Jones also said, “You find out about the different things that an IUD can do. It’s not to say it’s definitely done it, but I think it’s raised a lot of questions.”
She also added, “It’s also a long-acting method of reversible contraception, meaning that although it can be in for many years, once it’s removed return to fertility is pretty much immediate.”
