Notable Book Releases of 2024: From Salman Rushdie to Britney Spears

The days between Christmas and the New Year are pretty dead which calls for the perfect occasion of cosying up with a good book. But before you do that, here is a taster of what is going to come in the next year. You will get a hold of a vast variety of books, starting right off from celebrity memoirs, to fantasy fiction, anything you can want to read will be there. One of the most exciting celebrity memoirs will be of Salman Rushdie who is coming up with “Knife: Meditations After an Attempted Murder”. In this book, the renowned author recalls the horrifying attack, causing him emotional and physical trauma, and leaving him blind in one eye.

Another celebrity is RuPaul who is coming up with “The House of Hidden Meanings” which will tell the story of the first 40 years of his life before he created Drag Race. “I’m so excited and so anxious at the same time because I reveal so much of myself,” he shared on Instagram. Much loved by the people, Britney Spears has also teased a second volume of her indicative memoir, “The Woman In Me”. She revealed this news on Instagram, although there is no final publication date yet.

For political fans, Diane Abbott is coming with “A Woman Like Me,” where she describes her journey from being in 1960 working-class London to Cambridge, to being the first black female MP of the UK. Princess Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer is also coming up with his poignant memoir, “A Very Private School” which recalls his trauma of being sent to a boarding school at the tender age of 8.

Now for the fans of big hitters, one of the 20th Century’s greatest writers, Gabriel Garcia Marquez has suffered from dementia in his last days. It was then that he decided his last novel “Until August” should not be released until his death. However, now his sons are publishing it on sale on 12 March which tells a story of a middle-aged woman who is in search of freedom. Susanna Clarke is coming up with a breathtaking short story, “The Wood at Midwinter”. Colm Tóibín is also coming up with a sequel to the prize-winning, bestselling novel “Brooklyn”.

For the fans of fictional drama, Christie Watson is going to release “Moral Injuries” which is a psychological drama from the former nurse at NHS and the award-winning writer. The story revolves around three friends who met in medical school. Kristin Hannah is going to release “The Women” set in the 1960s which tells the story of Frankie, a woman from California who impulsively joins the Army Nurses Corps and goes to Vietnam. Julia Alvarez’s upcoming book “The Cemetery of Untold Stories”, is an innovative story about burying her draft manuscripts, but fails.

Crime novel readers also have some great stories lined up for 2024. Some of them are Stuart Turton’s “Last Murder at the End of the World”, and Richard Coles’ “Murder at the Monastery”. Emily Henry is coming to satisfy rom-com lovers with her latest, “Funny Story”. Another popular romance writer, Abbey Jiminez is also looking to release her next “V” the next year.
