India’s capital New Delhi has forced the officials to stop the civil construction project and also ban trucks entering the state as it hits the alarmingly levels of pollution on Friday. According to the CNN report, all the schools and colleges have been closed.

Air Quality Index registered the dangerous level of pollution throughout the capital region.  The air at Delhi Technological University is registered with AQI of 479 but the situation is no better at PGDAV College, Sriniwaspuri which is registered an AQI of 452.

Millions of citizens at Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad are at a high risk of permanent respiratory damage. The National Green Tribunal has describes the situation as ‘medical emergency’ and so far the governments have not initiated any concrete result. World Health Organization has called Delhi the world’s most polluted mega-city which is based on the report from 2011-2015.

The Central Pollution Control Board had warned the government administration of Delhi-NCR of criminal action cases in court for their inability to control the situation.

In the meantime, the Delhi government seeks the help of the IIT-Kanpur scientists to bring artificial rain over the Capital’s skies in order to reduce the problem.  They will be using seeding technique to make rainfall in Delhi. This technique has been used before in China.

Delhi citizens are desperately hoping for some reprieve from this situation which has turned the nation’s capital into a gas chamber, with millions panting for a breath.
